HEATHER ADAMS

Career: Elementary School Teacher

Years at CrossFit Pell City: 1

Congratulations to our August 2021 CORE3 AOM, Heather Adams!

Heather has been with CFPC since May of 2020. She has a newfound love for running and has developed allll the muscles. Her goal when she started was to have visible tricep muscles, and we can confidently say that she earned those muscles plus some! Here’s what Heather had to say about CFPC…

Before finding us, what was your struggle? What were your biggest frustrations?

“My biggest struggle was feeling tired all the time! I was frustrated with not knowing how to fix my fatigue, how to eat correctly, and constantly feeling like I needed to be on a “diet”. I didn’t really like or appreciate my body.”

How did your struggle and frustrations affect your life? What did you feel like before you made your transformation?

“I often felt too tired to do all the things I needed to do as a wife, mom, and teacher, and had no energy to do anything else. I was much less active than I am now. I did crash diets and gimmicks that I thought would get me the body I thought I was supposed to have. I worked out a little at home, but not consistently, and I didn’t enjoy it.”

How did our program help you?

“I have much more energy now than before. I have learned how to eat the foods I need to fuel my body correctly. I’ve learned that I can do way more than I ever thought I’d be able to do! I’ve also made so many friends and developed relationships with the most amazing people. The encouragement and support from everyone is not really something I expected, but it’s given me the confidence to try new things and push myself in many ways. I really had no idea how much of a positive part of my life CFPC was going to become.”

How is life different for you now?

“I look forward to working out now. I never thought I would say that! I used to look at working out as something I had to do to get skinny. Now, I look at it as something I get to do to make my body and mind stronger. My goal isn’t to be skinny anymore, it’s to be strong and healthy and to teach my kids the importance of working out and eating nutritious foods.

I can do things like lift heavy bags of mulch for the yard, move furniture into my classroom, and run trail runs now! I feel so much stronger than ever before. I also have a better attitude about food now. I eat way more than I ate before, and I now look at food as fuel for my body. I’ve learned food is not bad. Nutrition and fitness have become important to me in ways I never expected. I’m so thankful Amanda Kisor talked me into going to that first class!”
